JUST IN:  NFL Insider Reveals Shocking Update on Packers’ Jaire Alexander Situation

The ongoing uncertainty surrounding Jaire Alexander has become the central storyline of the Green Bay Packers’ offseason. Regarded as one of the NFL’s premier cornerbacks, Alexander has struggled with injuries, missing 34 of the team’s last 68 games. He is set to carry a hefty cap hit of $24.6 million in 2025 and $27 million in 2026.

Sources inside the organization have reportedly grown frustrated with Alexander’s inability to stay healthy. Adding to the intrigue, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport recently reported that the Packers had explored trade options for the star defensive back. However, General Manager Brian Gutekunst left the door open for Alexander’s return, stating he “certainly could be” part of the roster in 2025.

The debate continues among fans and analysts about whether the team should retain Alexander or move on. The situation took a new turn this week when ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported that reconciliation between the team and Alexander remains a possibility.

“According to a source, the Packers and Jaire Alexander are still discussing potential solutions, including the possibility that he stays with the team for the 2025 season,” said Demovsky.

That said, all options—including a trade or outright release—remain under consideration, especially in light of Green Bay’s financial forecast.

With Over The Cap projecting the Packers to have just $6.5 million in effective cap space in 2026—ranking ninth-lowest in the NFL—the team could face the departure of up to seven starters to unrestricted free agency next year. Committing nearly 10% of their cap to a player with a spotty availability record could complicate those decisions.

This situation draws parallels to former Packers offensive lineman David Bakhtiari, another elite player plagued by injuries. As with Bakhtiari, the uncertainty surrounding Alexander’s health creates a difficult decision for the front office.
