Tennessee football fans have plenty to celebrate following the latest update from 247Sports. Not only did offensive tackle commit Gabriel Osenda earn his fifth star, but star quarterback commit Faizon Brandon held firm as the No. 1 overall prospect in the nation for his class.
Brandon, widely regarded as a once-in-a-generation talent, continues to generate excitement among Vols supporters as they look ahead to the 2026 season. While many expected Brandon to retain his top ranking, his response was grounded and gracious. Rather than becoming complacent, he’s using this recognition as fuel for a standout senior season.
Vols QB Commit Faizon Brandon Maintains No. 1 National Ranking
Despite the spotlight, Brandon remains humble and appreciative of the acknowledgment. His character and attitude make him a natural fit for the culture in Knoxville, something head coach Josh Heupel and his staff surely value.
Brandon has reaffirmed his commitment to Tennessee, much to the relief of fans and coaches alike. When Bill Belichick took over at UNC, rumors swirled about a potential flip to his home-state Tar Heels. However, Brandon swiftly shut down speculation, emphasizing that he’s fully committed to the Vols.
Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 200 pounds, Brandon attracted offers from powerhouse programs including Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Miami, and UNC. He ultimately committed to Tennessee last August, marking a huge recruiting win for Coach Heupel.
Brandon is expected to officially sign with the Vols during the Early Signing Period in December. When that moment comes, he’ll do so as the consensus No. 1 player in the nation—an honor he takes seriously and doesn’t take for granted.
