BREAKING: In-State TE Commit Gets Visit from Vols Assistants, Still Weighing Options

The Tennessee Volunteers coaching staff continues to make a strong push on the recruiting trail, this time focusing on a key in-state talent. A committed tight end prospect from within the state lines recently hosted multiple Vols assistants at his high school as Tennessee works to solidify its 2025 recruiting class.

Though currently committed to another program, the tight end remains a priority target for Josh Heupel and his staff. The visit — which included position coach Alec Abeln and another offensive assistant — signals the Vols’ continued interest and their belief that they still have a shot at flipping the versatile playmaker.

Sources close to the recruitment indicate that while the tight end remains respectful of his current commitment, he has not closed the door on other opportunities. Tennessee’s consistent communication and recent on-campus visits have kept the Vols firmly in the conversation.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and over 230 pounds, the prospect is known for his athleticism, physical blocking, and soft hands — a prototypical fit for Tennessee’s uptempo offense. His performance in recent camps and his junior season highlights have caught the attention of multiple Power Five programs, but Tennessee’s local connection and offensive system continue to be major selling points.

The Vols’ strategy of staying aggressive with in-state prospects reflects Heupel’s broader recruiting philosophy: keep top talent home whenever possible. While the tight end’s recruitment remains fluid, Tennessee’s presence on the trail shows they’re not giving up without a fight.

As summer official visits approach and high school camps ramp up, all eyes will be on whether the in-state tight end sticks with his original pledge — or opts for a change that could shake up the SEC recruiting landscape.
