BREAKING: Elena Rybakina Opens Up About Working with Stefano Vukov Despite WTA Ban

Elena Rybakina has confirmed that Stefano Vukov remains an integral part of her coaching team, though she clarified that their collaboration is now limited to training sessions held between tournaments due to his suspension by the WTA.

The Kazakh star initially parted ways with Vukov in late August but made headlines when she brought him back into her camp in early January. The decision reportedly led to Goran Ivanisevic’s immediate departure from her team following the Australian Open.

It was only after Vukov’s return that the WTA publicly acknowledged an investigation into his conduct. A month later, the inquiry concluded with Vukov found in violation of WTA conduct rules, resulting in a one-year ban. During this suspension, he is prohibited from attending tournaments, being present in the player’s box, or accessing locker rooms and other official areas.

Speaking at the French Open, Rybakina explained: “We usually train together between tournaments, not when the tournament is on.”

Rybakina Criticizes WTA Over Vukov Ban

Throughout the investigation, Rybakina remained vocal in her support of Vukov, asserting that she had never experienced any mistreatment under his guidance.

“I’ve said it before—he never mistreated me. It was never anything like that,” she stated in January.

Following the WTA’s decision to issue a ban, Rybakina didn’t conceal her frustration.

“I’m just disappointed with the situation and how the process unfolded. I don’t want to comment further on it,” said the former world No. 3.

As the controversy continues in the background, Rybakina is advancing well at the French Open, where she’s set to face Jelena Ostapenko in the third round.
