DONE DEAL: Facundo Medina Poised for Marseille Move in €20m Deal as Champions League Return Spurs Reinforcements…

Marseille are on the verge of securing their first major signing of the summer with the anticipated arrival of RC Lens center-back Facundo Medina. According to Foot Mercato, the Argentine international is set to make the switch to the Vélodrome in a deal worth approximately €20 million.

With Marseille preparing for a return to the UEFA Champions League next season, bolstering their defensive line has become a top priority for the club. Medina, 26, quickly emerged as their prime target, and negotiations have accelerated in recent days as all parties moved closer to an agreement.

Despite a change in Lens’ sporting hierarchy following the conclusion of the Ligue 1 season, the green light for Medina’s departure—granted by the previous regime—remains in place. Crucially, the player himself is said to be fully committed to joining OM, with no interest in alternative destinations. His contract is expected to run until 2030, marking a long-term investment in Marseille’s backline.

Medina will also find familiar company in Marseille, linking up with fellow Argentine and club captain Leonardo Balerdi. The two defenders could form a crucial partnership as OM look to compete on both domestic and European fronts.

The transfer, nearing its final stages, signals intent from Marseille’s board and new management structure, who are clearly focused on assembling a squad capable of making a deep Champions League run while challenging for silverware in France.
