VfB Stuttgart are taking proactive steps to secure one of Germany’s most promising young talents, Nick Woltemade, by offering the 23-year-old striker a new and improved contract amid rising interest from across Europe. According to Bild, the Bundesliga side has proposed a lucrative one-year extension to Woltemade’s current deal—which already runs until 2028—along with a significant salary increase. The revised offer would see the striker’s annual earnings rise from €1.5 million to €2.5 million. The offer comes in the wake of a breakthrough season for Woltemade, who played a pivotal role in Stuttgart’s successful DFB-Pokal campaign and has continued to impress on the international stage at the ongoing UEFA Under-21 European Championship for Germany. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with several European clubs reportedly monitoring his situation closely. Despite the offer, negotiations are ongoing. Woltemade is reportedly holding out for a higher wage in line with Stuttgart’s top earners. Currently, Angelo Stiller and Deniz Undav lead the club’s payroll at €4.5 million per year, followed by Chris Führich and Jamie Leweling at €4 million. Stuttgart, however, remain in a strong position. Woltemade’s existing contract runs for another three years and crucially, contains no release clause, meaning the club retains control over his future regardless of the outcome of this summer’s negotiations. For now, Stuttgart fans can take comfort in the club’s firm stance and commitment to keeping its young core intact, as they aim to build on the momentum from last season’s domestic cup triumph and push for greater success both at home and in Europe.
