As the Denver Broncos shift their focus from the 2025 NFL Draft to finalizing the roster for training camp, attention has turned toward key veterans with expiring contracts. One name that stands out is defensive end John Franklin-Myers, who’s entering the final year of his two-year, $15 million deal. While his absence from voluntary offseason workouts initially raised eyebrows, new details have turned that concern into optimism.
Franklin-Myers, an outspoken and productive presence on the Broncos’ defensive front, has made it clear that he’s seeking a contract extension. His decision to skip early workouts sparked speculation about a possible rift. However, reports indicate that his absence is more strategic than problematic.
According to Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette, Franklin-Myers is currently in Dallas working with renowned pass-rush specialist BT Jordan. This move appears to be part of his ongoing personal development rather than a holdout tactic.
“#Broncos DE John Franklin-Myers is spending several weeks this spring working out with pass-rush specialist BT Jordan in Dallas,” Tomasson reported on May 3 via X. “Although JFM hasn’t been at Broncos offseason workouts, he could attend 2nd OTA session June 3-5 & definitely will be at June 10-12 mandatory minicamp.”
This training partnership isn’t new. Franklin-Myers has worked with Jordan regularly in recent years, and the Broncos even brought Jordan into their facilities last season to assist with pass rush development. The continuation of that relationship suggests the veteran remains committed to elevating his game in Denver, despite uncertainty around his contract status.
For the Broncos, this development offers reassurance. With a defense in transition and an eye on building a consistent pass rush, having a veteran like Franklin-Myers locked in—even off-site—is an encouraging sign. His planned attendance at the upcoming mandatory minicamp further confirms that contract negotiations aren’t getting in the way of preparation.
