The voice that echoed through generations of Cincinnati Reds fans is being immortalized in bronze. On September 6, 2025, the Reds will unveil a statue of legendary Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman outside Great American Ball Park, commemorating his 46 unforgettable years as the team’s radio play-by-play announcer.
The sculpture will capture Brennaman in his most iconic form—seated behind a radio microphone, mid-broadcast, as thousands of Reds faithful came to know and love him. From his debut in 1974 to his retirement in 2019, Brennaman’s voice was the soundtrack to Reds baseball, narrating the triumphs, heartbreaks, and timeless moments that defined nearly five decades of the franchise’s history.
“Marty’s connection to Reds fans goes beyond just baseball,” said Reds CEO Bob Castellini. “His words brought the game to life and built a community. This statue ensures future generations know who he was and what he meant to this city.”
Brennaman’s unmistakable calls—particularly his signature post-win phrase, “And this one belongs to the Reds!”—remain etched in the memory of anyone who tuned in. Whether it was the Big Red Machine in the ’70s, the wire-to-wire champs of 1990, or rebuilding seasons in between, Brennaman’s consistency and candor were a constant presence.
The bronze tribute will join a select few honoring Reds greats outside the stadium, symbolizing Brennaman’s place not just in the broadcast booth, but in the heart of Reds Nation. The unveiling ceremony will be open to the public and is expected to draw fans, players, and fellow broadcasters from across the country.
Marty Brennaman may have called his final game in 2019, but with this statue, his voice—and legacy—will continue to resonate just steps from the field where so many of his calls became part of baseball lore.
