Leeds United’s pursuit of Anderlecht striker Kasper Dolberg may hit a roadblock, as the Danish international has indicated he plans to see out his contract with the Belgian side, which runs until 2027.
The Whites are preparing for life back in the Premier League after winning the Championship title. However, the club is well aware of the struggles newly promoted teams often face in England’s top tier and are focused on strengthening their squad wisely during the summer transfer window.
While Joel Piroe was the Championship’s top scorer last season, his lack of Premier League experience has prompted Leeds to explore other options up front.
Dolberg, 27, is high on their radar and has been heavily linked with a move to Elland Road. Despite interest from other clubs as well, the former Ajax striker appears committed to staying at Anderlecht—for now.
“I still have two seasons left on my contract. I assume I will stay,” Dolberg told Belgian outlet La Derniere Heure (via Tipsbladet), addressing his future plans.
Though he was once considered one of Europe’s most promising young forwards, Dolberg has settled into a dependable role in Belgium. This past season, he tallied 24 goals and added two assists across 45 appearances in all competitions.
Leeds may yet test Anderlecht’s and Dolberg’s stance with a formal offer this summer, but for now, the Danish forward seems focused on continuing his journey in Brussels.
