The New York Rangers are securing their future grit with a familiar face. On Thursday, the team announced a two-year contract extension for 22-year-old forward Matt Rempe, signaling a vote of confidence in the young winger’s development and potential as a bottom-six mainstay.
General Manager Chris Drury continues to methodically address the team’s offseason priorities, and retaining Rempe—who was a restricted free agent—was a critical early move. By inking the 6’8” forward to a team-friendly deal with an average annual value under $1 million, Drury not only avoids the risk of summer offer sheets but also reinforces the club’s fourth-line depth at a manageable cost.
