The transfer tug-of-war over German striker Nick Woltemade has taken a fiery turn, as his agent publicly criticized VfB Stuttgart for rejecting Bayern Munich’s €55 million bid without even entering negotiations.
Earlier this week, Bayern Munich tabled a formal offer of €55 million for the 22-year-old forward—an amount that would have set a Bundesliga record. However, Stuttgart swiftly turned it down, standing firm on their reported €80 million valuation. The club’s reluctance to even sit down for discussions has left Woltemade’s camp frustrated.
In response to the rejection, Woltemade’s agent, Fabian Bachmann, didn’t hold back.
“When a Bundesliga record offer of €55 million isn’t even enough for a face-to-face meeting, the question arises as to what VfB actually considers ‘extraordinary’,” Bachmann said. “This was unforeseeable.”
The comments add further tension to what is becoming one of the summer’s most dramatic transfer storylines in German football. While Woltemade is reportedly eager to join Bayern and has already agreed personal terms, Stuttgart holds a strong hand: the striker is under contract until 2028, giving the club no immediate incentive to sell.
Insiders suggest that Stuttgart’s valuation is not without precedent. Comparisons have been drawn to Premier League interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Hugo Ekitiké, who is also commanding offers in the €80 million range. Stuttgart appears to be using that market as a benchmark for Woltemade’s price—despite Bayern’s status as a domestic rival.
For now, Stuttgart’s message is clear: they won’t be bullied into selling one of their crown jewels, no matter the size of the offer or the pressure from player representatives. Whether Bayern will return with an improved bid—or turn their focus elsewhere—remains to be seen.
But one thing is certain: this transfer battle is far from over..
