Newcastle have made an enquiry about signing Chelsea’s top player for £18 million.

If Chelsea wishes to loan out a player, they seem to have one Premier League team they may send him to this month.

It’s highly likely that Andrey Santos will rejoin Chelsea following a lackluster loan stint at Nottingham Forest this year. The midfielder has only played in one Premier League game thus far.

Journalist Ben Jacobs now claims Newcastle United is considering him. As per his piece for Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, he received word that Newcastle had made an inquiry over Santos.

It’s unclear how responsive Chelsea was to that inquiry, but it’s evident that Santos needs to leave Forest and sign with another team or remain at Stamford Bridge.

Even though he lost out on half a season there, at 19, he still has a promising future.

Newcastle inquires about Andrey Santos
Newcastle has sustained numerous injuries this season, and Sandro Tonali is currently visibly prohibited from playing football.

This is the reason it makes sense to bring in Santos, a Brazilian national already.

In the Premier League standings, Chelsea is only one spot ahead of the Magpies. Given their rivalry, would the other truly be willing to allow him to join the former? It is important to remember that Romeo Lavia is still experiencing fitness issues for Mauricio Pochettino’s team, which has led to their own injury crisis this season. Maybe they should hang on to the £18 million man (Daily Mail).

Once more, his return from Forest is what matters most. It is incredibly sad for a player of his caliber to not have started a single league game.

Chelsea needs to give careful consideration to which locations to loan out their players. It’s not good what happened to Santos.
