BREAKING: Houston Texans Sign Longtime Team Veteran to One-Year Deal With Another Star.

The Houston Texans were one of football’s best tales this year. Behind first-year head coach DeMeco Ryans and rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, the Texans won ten games, virtually matching their total from the previous three seasons combined, while winning the AFC South. Under Ryans and Stroud, Houston has a new identity, and the impact has spread to the special teams as well. According to NFL insider Ari Meirov, the Texans re-signed long snapper Jon Weeks to a one-year contract.

Weeks will return to Houston for the record 15th consecutive season. He has appeared in a record 227 games with the Texans.

Rather than going younger at long snapper, the Texans agreed to terms with Jon Weeks on Thursday. He signed a $1.21 million contract to stay with the team. Stroud is no longer a rookie, they will have realistic expectations for next season. The Ohio State product passed for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns, with five interceptions. He completed 64% of his passes. He also threw for 274 yards and three touchdowns against the Cleveland Browns on Super Wild Card Weekend.

The Texans ranked in the top 15 in yards gained, points scored, fewest yards allowed, and fewest points given up. They also have the 23rd overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
