JJ Redick responds to former NBA star Michael Jordan’s viral statement.

JJ Redick made a contentious comment regarding the period that Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan played in.

During a recent episode of The Big Podcast With Shaq, former NBA player JJ Redick made a controversial comment regarding Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan’s playing days.

“I think it’s fair to just say there are different tiers of greatness,” Redick stated. “… I’ll say this about Michael Jordan, and I don’t intend to be controversial, but everyone speaks about the background of this period… Jordan was picked during his prime, and the NBA expanded to include six more clubs. The NBA has added 90 players… Doesn’t that dilute the regular season to some degree?”

Redick said, “If we add two teams in two or three years, we get a Vegas franchise or a Seattle franchise, you’re not telling me that the league for a little bit is going to be a little watered down?”

Former NBA great and current Phoenix Suns announcer Eddie Johnson reacted to Redick’s comments, sparking an interaction on X (previously known as Twitter) between the two former NBA players, with Redick responding with the following statement:

Redick’s name has lately come up as a prospective contender for the open Los Angeles Lakers head coaching post, as well as the Charlotte Hornets’ head coaching opening. Redick now broadcasts two popular podcasts, one with LeBron James.

Redick is a brilliant basketball thinker who understands the game, but his comments about previous eras of NBA basketball sometimes offend people.
